I love my some Alarak, but yeah as we started discussing on comms the other day, he kinda just feels a little out of place, or there are just other heroes that do what he does better. The games may sometimes still be shitshow or a whole bag of WTF-WHY but it is still progress I feel as though I'm actually making progress in HL and an climbing my way out of the depths which is nice.
I realized I'm just below my target winrate post placement (or at least this first target). I just haven't found a situation where I think " man I wish we had alarak here". He can't do camps really well (God help me I'm turning into ducks). If you want the silence, well as we discussed you can just stun people into oblivion and they can't use abilities if they are dead. I feel like he wants to poke with lightning, but then play a hero with better poke. I played him again the other day and I mean he is fun, but I dunno. If I want to be insulted all game I can play a hero I like more and just queue HL. I'm still not really sure what alarak's place is. Even though I lost a few games, its still satisfying to absolutely fuck up a low HP assassin when they burst your counterattack. Like Garrosh, outside of Body Check, name me one wrong way to build himĮven if you take "non-optimal" talents they're still functional and none are straight up trap talents (except maybe Body Check still, rip) To their credit though they've been getting a lot better about designing newer Heroes without having trap talents though (Lulu does need a rework at some point too anyway just because her talents are pretty outdated at this point.
Though the Lunara example isn't quite as apt because you go to Lunara's level 1 winrates and it's like 48/49/51/49 and you're like "well Blossom Swell has a 48% winrate still that's fine right"īut it is very much a trap talent because it does jack-all for youĪnd again most people look at a 1-2% differential and go "that's not too bad it's still fine right" Hotslogs does show when talents have awful winrates I mean ultimately i wish there weren't garbage talents period but it can take a long time for blizzard to admit that something's actually garbage and should be replaced rather than very niche Like that one radius increase for lunara's Q talent, it says on the talent "33% increase!" and to a casual player that sounds like wow a lot! but 33% of tiny is still tiny! I wish there were good resources for "Yo this talent is garbagggggge though"
